BREAKING NEWS ALERT: John Baptist Mission Services Are Not Available

Lome (Africa)/London (United Kingdom) May 31, 2008/3mnewswire.org/-- The services of the international mission John Baptist Mission are since about three hours for unknown reasons not available. Already in the beginning of this week our services have been not available, said Mr. Andreas Klamm, journalist, missionary and director of the UK and German branch of John Baptist Mission, Togo.

Andreas Klamm said: "We have got some reports that our services are perhaps not available for religious and political reasons, such as the publishing of the entire copy of the bible in English, French, German and Spanish and helping the poor people, 300 children and orphans. It seems that some political forces do not want the independent information by independent journalists and even missionaries and a Reverend which are published throughout the world. As it is a Saturday morning I can not confirm that the concerns which have been raised are of the truth. But if we are blocked for religious and political reasons it actually would mean that christian missionaries and journalists are blocked although in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights issued in 1948 religious liberty and the freedom of the press is granted as a basic human right. If christians have no more right to publish information about the bible, to publish the copy of the bible which we do on other websites since years and if we have no more rights to share the concepts of our missions, help projects and general news and information it actually would mean that democracy has come to an end and that Germany might have changed from democracy to dictatorship. My hope is that this is not the case, because it would have a negative effect in the life of millions of people worldwide. I have to apologize to all of our readers, listeners, viewers and even customers in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and in several countries of Africa. The company which provides the web hosting, which our mission has paid for, is notified. We got no answers yet what might have happened. But it is quite strange if people can not access the website of an international mission for hours and days although we have paid for the services. I guess this could be the reason that the concerns have been raised that we are blocked for reasons of faith, religion and politics perhaps not only in Germany."

SOS-Burma: Christian Freedom International Mourns the Death of Karen Leader Saw Ba Thin Sein

SOS-Burma: Christian Freedom International Mourns the Death of Karen Leader Saw Ba Thin Sein

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich., May 23 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian Freedom International (CFI), a humanitarian organization that assists persecuted Christians worldwide, expresses deep condolences over the death of Saw Ba Thin Sein, chairman of the Karen National Union (KNU) in Burma.

The KNU, an ethnic rebel group that has been fighting for the Karen's autonomy in Burma since 1948, lost its leader in the early morning hours of Thursday, May 22, 2008, in the Pa-an District of southern Karen State. Saw Ba Thin Sein, who joined the KNU in 1949 and became chairman in 2000, suffered from diabetes, asthma, and heart disease. He was 82 years old.

Throughout the chairman's service, he stressed the need for unity among the Karen people, particularly after the division that led to the formation of the Democratic Karen Buddhist Army, a KNU-breakaway group that ultimately aligned itself with the ruling military junta. Although he did not live to see the Karen's liberation, he will be remembered for his brave leadership and unwavering dedication to the Karen's 50-year-old struggle for independence. "[He] was a friend to me for the past ten years...he will be missed," says CFI president Jim Jacobson, who has personally delivered relief aid to persecuted Karen Christians in Burma since 1998.

The loss is also a hard-hitting one for thousands of Karen people in Burma, whose ongoing struggle for survival continues in the recent aftermath of Cyclone Nargis, and the junta's denial of desperately needed relief aid into Karen-populated areas. According to a statement issued from KNU headquarters on Thursday, Tamla Baw, vice-chairman of the KNU and former chief commander of the Karen National Liberation Army, will succeed Saw Ba Thin Sein.

The chairman is survived by his wife and four children.

SOS-Burma: Karen Cyclone Victims Still Denied Aid in Burma

SOS-Burma: Karen Cyclone Victims Still Denied Aid in Burma

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich., May 21 /Christian Newswire/ -- After days of worldwide pressure in the wake of Cyclone Nargis, Burma's military government has finally eased restrictions on the delivery of international relief aid into the country. On Monday, the junta granted permission to its Asian neighbors to oversee the distribution of foreign aid to storm survivors, and also approved a visit to the region by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. According to government officials, the death toll from Cyclone Nargis has now risen to over 78,000, with 56,000 others still missing.

But even as desperately needed relief aid trickles in, ethnic Karen survivors are reportedly still fending for themselves in various parts of the country. With no foreign or government aid of any kind being delivered in Karen-populated areas, thousands of victims are going without the most basic of necessities; many are sleeping on the ground with little more than plastic sheets.

The denial of cyclone relief aid to the Karen is proving to be the latest instance of the Burmese government's genocidal effort to eliminate the mostly Christian ethnic group, which has rebelled against the junta's repressive regime for over four decades. As army guards continue to block roadways and entrances into Karen villages, hundreds of storm victims are suffering and dying each day from injury, disease, and starvation. Although other local Christians have attempted to bridge the gap with secret donations of rice bags, biscuits and clothing, the military's clampdown on relief aid to Karen storm victims has made the mission that much more difficult.

Christian Freedom International (CFI), a Michigan- based organization that aids persecuted Christians around the world, including the Karen, is using its extensive network of underground house church pastors in Burma to wire funds into the country. The organization, which has a long humanitarian history in the region, has built numerous orphanages, schools, and medical facilities, and has remained a firm advocate for the thousands of ethnic Christians who have been suffering in the midst of a destructive civil war for years.

To donate to the cyclone relief effort, or to learn more about CFI's work in Burma, call 1-800-323-2273 or visit www.christianfreedom.org.

Boppard. (and). 21. Mai 2008.

10/40 window an SIRITUAL TOGO

Window 10/40

(Introduction)

The term window 10/40 designates the countries localized between the tenth and the fortieth degree in the north of the equator (of the west Africa until the extremity of Asia). Makes remarkable: This part of the world is the most hostile to the gospel; and yet we have serious reasons to focus our efforts of evangelism there.
1 historically, this place is the cradle of the big biblical events, Adam and Eve, the deluge, Babylon, the diversification of the languages, Egypt, Israel, Christ lived there. 2 the majority of the men of the world population lives in this region. 97 o/o of the countries the less evangelized find themselves of it. 3- the birth place of the biggest religions of the world. It is also the birth place of Christianity. 4- the place of three predominant religions: Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism. 5 poverty these peoples less evangelized are also there the poorest the life expectancy is very bass. On the other hand, the infantile mortality and the percentage of the illiterates are raised very. 6-IT is Satan's real fortress

Topics of Prayer: Let's wake ourselves up and let's ask the master of the crop. If we hurry, we will be able to complete the stain of evangelism of the world in some years and we will be able to shout MARANATHA then SO LORD COMES BACK! ! ! !

A-To - pray for the destruction of this fortress but especially for the expansion of the gospel in this reason.

B - For the protection of God's servants among these peoples. They are exposed to the expulsion, the famine, the torture, the dismissal and even the death.

C - so that of the women Christian s ‘S hire to work among the Muslim where the men cannot penetrate. D - For the revelation of the Lord to all those that look for it for all heart, even though they look uncertainly for it in the various religions. E - For sends him several other workers in all countries of the window 10/40.

God bless you

TOGO SPIRITUAL
Remark: The Christian get married with the Muslim and leave Christianity because of money. The pagans convert in Islam All pastors remained in Lomé the capital and the north of Togo remained non reached. People die to the north of Togo without Christ. The same Christian circulate of church in church and we believe that the country is reached.

The more part of God's men only preaches on the prosperity and the tithes and the Christian have thirst of God's speech. There are the false prophets who mix with the true and commit some silliness and there is the stations Radio solely for the broadcasts against the men of God and the pagans don't want to come more to God.

TOPICS OF PRAYER to Pray so that God intervenes in these situations. To pray so that the Christian understand that the politics means the management of the city and that it can work in the government because they have disregard these stations and the Muslim have these stations and impose us their laws.
Evangelist NYONATO

The Missionary Work is a Team Work

The Missionary Support a team work

And How will have there - him of the preachers, if they are not sent? (Saint Paul)

If you are not able to go,send someone other to your place (O.J.SMITH)

1 Samuel 17:17-20
17 Now Jesse said to his son David, "Take this ephah [
4] of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp. 18 Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit. [5] See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance [6] from them. 19 They are with Saul and all the men of Israel in the Valley of Elah, fighting against the Philistines." 20 Early in the morning David left the flock with a shepherd, loaded up and set out, as Jesse had directed. He reached the camp as the army was going out to its battle positions, shouting the war cry
This passage teaches us the good manner of all age to make the fight and that is always of activity.
Here we see the soldiers of earth on the first line of battle, in direct contact with hostile then we see the second rank of the support that consists of David, who visits the field bringing with him of the supplies coming of Isai, intended to can to the physical and emotional needs of the soldiers.
This technique is as applicable to the enterprise of the mission.
The needs physics, emotional, spiritual, material and financial of the earth soldiers (the missionnaires)sont provided by Christ's body. Some have the pleasure to encourage the missionaries by visits like David made it, to bring back the reports of the field to the other members of the body for the intercessions.
Other people find their pleasure again in the material support as Isai made it.
They make it all of a free will like a service towards the Lord.
You also you can find a place in this enterprise.
You can return to the services as David, or as Isai, you can give something.
Of the things that you cost dear or the things of which you don't have need that can be anymore clutter the house and occupy place uselessly.
You can invest them in the missionary work.
The Mission Jean Baptiste is ready to reach the non reached peoples.
You can help us morally, materially and financially.

Fotos: 3mnewswire.org

SOS-Burma-Hilfe:

Missionar und Journalist erneuert Angebot der Hilfeleistung

Schreiben an US-Präsident George W. Bush

Washington / Berlin / London/Lome. (red). 16. Mai 2008.

„Lieber, geliebter Bruder in Christus, Präsident George W. Bush !

Fernseh-Stationen in New York City machten Aufnahmen von mir während meines Arbeits-Einsatzes als Freiwilliger mitten in New York City, USA.

Vielen Dank für Ihre Gebete und Ihre Unterstützung.

Möge GOTT die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika, die Königin des Vereinigten Königreichs und das Vereinigte Königreich segnen.

Volunteer opportunity and offer to volunteer as nurse for the poor people in Burma

May 15, 2008

Dear beloved Brother in Christ, President George W. Bush !

On May, 9 in the year of our Lord 2008 I have offered to the most powerful lady (according to the US magazine FORBES) and German chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel, Dr. Frank Walter Steinmeier and Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble to help the poor and suffering people of Burma after these people have got hit by cyclone « Nargis » working as a nurse (RGN, R.N.) and to help as a volunteer.

My last money, which I had, I have donated already with UNICEF.

Unfortunely I have not even received some kind of positive reply. Hereby I do declare, that I am willing to help the poor people in Burma working as a nurse (R.N., RGN) for them with US-American, British, French or international aid and relief organizations.

This is the request to make it happen to help people working as a volunteer as nurse (R.N, RGN) with US, British, French or international aid and relief organizations. Since 1993 I am a registered nurse, in 2006 I have been working as ITU nurse with the Clementine Churchill Hospital in London, United Kingdom and also I have been working as ITU nurse with a local hospital in the German city of Mannheim in December 2006. Since Oktober 2006 I am also working full-time as a journalist and director of UK based company.

Would you be so kind to pray and to help if you have some influence to make it happen to help the poor people as a volunteer, working as a nurse for the people which got hit by the cyclone.

In the attachment you will find my application documents to volunteer as a nurse (R.N., RGN). Also I do have work experience since 1984 as a journalist, editor of British Newsflash Magazine est. 1986 (Leeds, West Yorkshire) and to work as missionary and director of the UK and German branch of John Baptist Mission, Togo, Africa, founder: Reverend Yawovi Nyonato.

Already after the 911 attacks in New York City I have been a volunteer in America in 2001 and 2002 with All Nations Baptist Church, other faith based organizations, the American Red Cross (ARC) in New York City.

ARC members, members of the United Nations (UN), official officers from the FBI and firefighters of New York City are able to confirm this information to you.

NY TV stations have even taken pictures from me while working as a volunteer in the midst of New York City, USA.

Thank you for your prayers and support.

May GOD bless the United States of America, the Queen of the United Kingdom and the United Kingdom.

In Christ and in His Service

Sincerely,

Lutheran World Relief Pledges Initial $50,000 to Myanmar (Burma) Aid Efforts

Lutheran World Relief Pledges Initial $50,000 to Myanmar (Burma) Aid Efforts

BALTIMORE, May 12 /Christian Newswire/ -- Lutheran World Relief today pledged $50,000 to support the response of the global aid alliance Action by Churches Together (ACT) International in the aftermath of the devastating cyclone that struck Myanmar (Burma) on May 3.

The preliminary response will aim to assist at least 10,000 families through water, shelter and cash for work programs. And in the coming weeks, that effort will increase, building on LWR's experience from the 2004 tsunami and our partners' expertise to provide short and medium-term assistance.

While some of LWR's partners in ACT, a global alliance of faith-based aid agencies, attempt to gain greater access to the country, others are already on the ground, prepared to assist the heavily damaged southern region. LWR staff members have also begun exploring other possible partnerships in Myanmar (Burma) that would enable LWR to reach even more of the most vulnerable people.

As the official death toll was raised today to 31,938, experts continued to estimate that as many as 100,000 died in the disaster. The United Nations has said that between 1.2 and 1.9 million people are in dire need of food, water, medicines, and shelter, and relief experts warned that starvation, dehydration and disease could cause a second wave of casualties.

"Relief workers have very little time to head off this health crisis," said LWR's president and CEO, John Nunes. "Our financial support will enable our partners on the ground to quickly procure needed supplies within the country and get them to those who need them most. While we are pleased to provide this initial $50,000 to our partners," he added, "The needs are still great, and more funds are needed to adequately respond to this disaster."

You can help: LWR accepts donations at 1-800-597- 5972, www.lwr.org, and P.O. Box 17061 Baltimore, MD 21298-9832 USA.

WHO IS LWR? Lutheran World Relief, an international nonprofit organization, works to end poverty and injustice by empowering some of the world's most impoverished communities to help themselves. SOS-Burma: As All Else Fails, Christian Freedom International Dispatches Aid into Devastated Burma

SOS-Burma: As All Else Fails, Christian Freedom International Dispatches Aid into Devastated Burma

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich., May 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- Christian Freedom International, a Michigan-based humanitarian organization, is embarking on a unique mission to get desperately needed relief aid into cyclone-ravaged Burma. The organization's efforts are coming at a time when other international assistance has been rejected by the Burmese government, and as U.N. food aid shipments have already been confiscated by the military for its own use in the storm's aftermath.

Cyclone Nargis, which hit the Southeast Asian country on May 3, 2008, destroyed homes, roadways, grain stores and rice fields, and knocked out electricity in many parts of the country. To date, the official death toll from the storm has climbed to nearly 23,000, with 42,000 others still missing. It is the worst cyclone to hit Asia in 17 years, when 143,000 people were killed in Bangladesh in 1991.

Despite the overwhelming need for food, shelter, clean drinking water, and medical supplies for thousands of Burma's survivors, the junta remains adamant in its refusal to accept the help of a major international relief operation, insisting that it alone will distribute emergency aid among the cyclone victims. "Conventional ways of delivering aid just doesn't work in Burma," says Jim Jacobson, president of Christian Freedom International. "Independent groups like CFI are the only answer to getting aid into the country." Jacobson, who has personally made dozens of trips to the region to deliver relief aid to persecuted Karen and Karenni Christians, believes that the Burmese government's indifference to the widespread suffering of its people in the wake of Cyclone Nargis is helping the international community finally understand the true level of the junta's abject inhumanity.

For the past decade, Jacobson and his workers have witnessed firsthand the devastation of Burma's genocidal brutality carried out against its own citizens, which has caused the displacement of tens of thousands of refugees and the vicious beatings, rapes, and murders of thousands more - a humanitarian crisis that has remained unknown to most of the international community. Burma's repressive government also became the subject of worldwide scrutiny after the country's recent monk-led protests demanding freedom for all Burmese citizens.

CFI, a nonprofit organization that assists persecuted Christians around the world, has an established network of underground house church pastors in Burma, through which it is wiring funds to help provide emergency assistance for cyclone victims. CFI has also dispatched a team of indigenous backpack medics into remote areas, where storm-affected victims will receive lifesaving medical care. CFI workers are also providing spiritual guidance to Burma's suffering victims, offering Bibles and other materials to those who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

New York/Berlin. (and). 12 Mai 2008.

Damit wäre Menschen in schwerster Not in Burma nicht geholfen.

New York/London/Berlin. 10.

BURMA - Disaster Relief And Aid For People In Need

May 10, 2008, John Baptist Mission,Togo, Africa, News Center, Issued as provided through international mission reports:

https://secure.avaaz.org/de/burma_cyclone/17.php?cl=88583775

DFID - Statement on Burma from Douglas Alexander

DFID - Statement on Burma from Douglas Alexander

LONDON. May 9, 2008/3mnewswire.org/-- Commenting on the situation in Burma, International Development Secretary Douglas Alexander said:

"The situation in Burma is rapidly deteriorating. Many hundreds of thousands of lives are at stake. We are witnessing the worst humanitarian disaster since the Asian tsunami of 2004.

"It is appalling and inexcusable that valuable supplies are piling up outside Burma while people inside the country are dying.

"The Burmese authorities must grant international agencies full and unfettered access now. They must understand that the sole priority of the international community is to help them relieve the suffering of their own people. They must waive visa requirements and allow relief flights into Burma with immediate effect.

"Their behaviour is a challenge to the whole UN system. We are making our views clear at an emergency meeting convened by the UN today which will demand the urgent need for humanitarian access.

"The UK Government is consulting fellow members of the UN Security Council. We urge the UN Secretary General to visit the region as soon as possible to raise the need for immediate access directly with the Burmese authorities and also with key regional partners.

"We have had intensive diplomatic exchanges with key international partners. We and others - including Burma's regional friends such as China, India, Thailand - all agree that the Burmese Government must open up to international assistance. The Foreign Secretary is speaking to his counterparts in the ASEAN region.

"The scale of the disaster and the urgency to act quickly cannot be overstated. Now is the time to work together, in a spirit of common humanity, to save lives."

Background

The UK has already pledged up to £5,000,000 for the relief effort, and we will consider sending more if required. A DFID emergency team is about to travel to Burma to support the work of our team already on the ground and the wider UN effort that is underway.

Some estimates are already placing the number of dead and missing at 100,000 people. 1.5m people are in need of immediate assistance.

As All Else Fails, Christian Freedom International Dispatches Aid into Devastated Burma

Urgent Prayer Needed for SAT-7 Lebanon Team

Urgent Prayer Needed for SAT-7 Lebanon Team

Fighting sparked by general strike in Beirut closes airport, traps SAT-7 staff,
and threatens to disrupt SAT-7 KIDS channel broadcasts

Nicosia, Cyprus/3mnewswire.org/8th May 2008 - Anti-government forces lead by Hezbollah have seized control of the main road leading to the Beirut airport, sparking street clashes and closure of the airport itself.

“We are very concerned for our staff in Beirut,” says Terence Ascott, SAT-7 CEO, “Currently our Programming Director cannot leave Lebanon and one of our key Lebanese producers is stuck in Cairo and cannot return home to her family.” The moral of the team in Lebanon, consisting of about 20 full time staff plus many freelancers, is currently very low. “Everyone is worried about what will happen,” says Naji Daoud, SAT-7 Lebanon Director. “The situation is really very serious and seems to be escalating with one force retaliating against the other. No one knows how it will end.”

In addition to the effect on SAT-7 staff members, the closure of the airport could over time impact the broadcasts of the SAT-7 KIDS channel. Every day broadcast tapes for that channel are created in Lebanon and then shipped to Europe. Many of the programmes for the KIDS channel are produced in Lebanon, and if the airport remains closed it may prevent the team from shipping out the tapes. Other daily programmes, for youth and women are also made in Lebanon and could be disrupted. The sea port remains open but the main road out of the country through Syria has been closed and only a secondary road remains open.

“We do have several back-up plans in place should the airport remain closed,” says David Harder, SAT-7 Communications Manager. “We can receive KIDS programmes from Egypt and assemble them here in Cyprus, so the channel’s broadcasts will not be interrupted, but we may not have access to some of our newest programmes which are being created in Lebanon.”

In addition, delivery of a satellite uplink dish which will enable the Lebanon team to send its programmes directly to the satellite from their studios has been delayed. “We had hoped to have that dish in place by now, but the company we were working with has had some serious problems. The dish is scheduled to be shipped at the end of May. We would ask that people urgently pray that the dish would arrive safely in Beirut,” adds Mr. Harder.

In summary, SAT-7’s Lebanon team ask Christians to pray for their safety, for the Beirut airport to be reopened, for the uplink dish to be delivered, and for a peaceful political solution to be found to end the current crisis.

SAT-7 is a network of Christian satellite channels made by and for the people of the Middle East and North Africa. SAT-7 makes Christ’s message of hope available to every home in the Middle East. SAT-7 consists of three channels: SAT-7 ARABIC, SAT-7 PARS (Farsi/Turkish) and SAT-7 KIDS (Arabic).

For nearly twelve years the ministry has supported Christians living in the Middle East and North Africa, by providing a satellite platform through which they can strengthen their churches and witness to Christ.

May 9, 2008, John Baptist Mission,Togo, Africa, News Center, Issued as provided through international mission reports:

GFA Missionaries Seeking Cyclone Survivors

YANGON, Myanmar (RANGOON, Burma), May 9 /Christian Newswire/ -- Gospel for Asia missionaries and local church leaders moved out from Yangon (Rangoon) Thursday morning to go into Myanmar's cyclone-devastated villages and search for survivors, according to a GFA correspondent inside the ravaged country.

Five teams were sent out to survey the damage and begin assessing the needs of the traumatized survivors. The teams included students from GFA's Bible college in Yangon, which has become a center of ministry to survivors in Myanmar's largest city.

One of the teams is being led by the school's dean of students. The GFA country leader is directing the relief efforts at the college, which includes providing desperately needed food and water to survivors staying on and near the campus.

The campus itself was badly damaged, but some buildings were strong enough to house survivors on a temporary basis.

GFA President K.P. Yohannan has issued an urgent plea for focused prayer as the situation has continued to grow ever more critical.

"The number of dead will probably be over 100,000," K.P. said from India, where he is working to get GFA relief materials into the beleaguered country. "Vast areas were completely drowned under the water. Now, with dead bodies littering the countryside and food and water running out, we must pray that the government will allow these much-needed supplies into the country.

"I am also asking Christians around the world to pray for our 500 missionaries in Burma, and for our 250 Bible college students."

K.P. also called for prayer for the thousands of believers who worship in more than 400 churches and 250 mission stations.

"Please pray that God will protect their health," he emphasized, noting that disease is expected to sweep the southern part of the country, where 120- mile-per-hour winds and a 12-foot storm surge swept away villages, farmland, animals and people early Saturday morning.

"The suffering of the people is unimaginable," K.P. reported. "Hundreds of thousands-perhaps millions-are homeless. Food and clean water are quickly running out. Electricity may be out for months. People have lost literally everything."

A few U.N. aid flights have been allowed to land in Rangoon, but only a handful of outside aid workers have been granted visas.

"For us, the issue is not as much visas as it is getting supplies into the affected areas," K.P. explained. "Our people are already on the ground. Our national leader is organizing the relief efforts. And he is trying to arrange for our materials to get in. But they need much more-and they need much prayer.

"We are working to get some of our workers into Burma from India," he noted, "but right now we are relying on our Burmese workers and church members who are helping every way they can to alleviate the suffering.

"Most importantly, they are bringing the hope of Jesus Christ into the situation. One of the things we learned in the wake of the Asian tsunami was that even when we bring physical aid, the emotional and spiritual needs are even greater.

"I still remember when one of our missionaries read Scripture to a woman who was about to walk into the ocean and drown herself because she had lost everything in the tsunami," he recounted. "She had received food and clothing and shelter-but she had lost her entire family and didn't want to live anymore. It was only the Good News of the Gospel that saved her.

"Even as we minister in the wake of this cyclone, we must never forget what man's deepest needs are."

Water Missions International Prepares Water Purification Systems to Aid Survivors in Myanmar

CHARLESTON, Sc., May 7 /Christian Newswire/ -- Water Missions International (WMI) is preparing 44 water purification systems for immediate deployment to aid survivors of last Saturday's deadly cyclone in Myanmar. The 44 Living Water(TM) Treatment Systems (LWTS(TM)) have been requested from other organizations around the United States who are working to get relief to the people of Myanmar. World Vision has requested 20 water systems, Operation Blessing has requested up to 12, and Samaritan's Purse has asked for 12 water systems to be ready for transport this Friday, May 9. The first water systems to depart Water Missions International for this disaster effort will leave via the Samaritan's Purse transport truck on Friday morning. In addition to these initial 44 systems, Water Missions International is equipped to assemble another 19 water systems in case further requests are received. Each water system treats up to ten gallons of water per minute, approximately 10,000 gallons per day, and supports communities of up to 3,000 people.

Cyclone Nargis, a Category 3 storm, ripped though Myanmar on Saturday, May 3, affecting more than two million people. According to the latest reports, the death toll may top 100,000, and more than 70,000 people are still missing and feared dead. This is the worst disaster to strike Southeast Asia since the Tsunami in 2004. A state of emergency has been declared across five regions of Myanmar, and up to one million people are in desperate need of immediate, life-saving assistance. Clean, safe drinking water tops the list of urgent needs.

Donations are needed immediately to assist with disaster relief efforts. "With a response of this magnitude, Water Missions International could incur costs nearing $1 million," explains Danya Jordan, WMI's VP of Development. "To save lives we must act quickly, and to act quickly, we desperately need funding. We encourage everyone to act now. Every gift makes a difference," Jordan says. For more information on how to help, please contact Danya Jordan at (843)769-7395 or donate online at www.watermissions.org.

Gospel for Asia Reaching Cyclone Victims

KERALA, India, May 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- Gospel for Asia has more than 500 native missionaries on the ground in cyclone- struck Burma (Myanmar), and many are already reaching out to the victims of the storm.

"The suffering of the people is unimaginable," said GFA President K.P. Yohannan, speaking from India where he is monitoring the situation. "Hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, are homeless. Food is in short supply, and prices are skyrocketing. Electricity may be out for months. People have lost literally everything."

In response, he said that the missionaries, as well as other volunteers, are forming GFA Compassion Services teams to help bring relief to thousands left homeless by the 120-mph winds. And GFA has activated a cyclone relief fund, with 100 percent of donations to the fund going straight to the field to assist survivors.

"We are also trying to get some of our workers into Burma from neighboring countries," he explained, "but right now transportation and communication are closed off."

"As in the past," he noted, "our workers and church members are helping every way they can to alleviate the suffering and bring the hope of Jesus Christ into the situation."

Only about 4 percent of Burma's population is Christian. GFA has about 400 churches in the majority Buddhist nation. Surprisingly, they are well thought of by the people because of their willingness to help in situations like the cyclone.

In 2006, the military-run government of Burma forbade foreign non-government organizations from doing aid work in the country. In the face of this disaster, the government is allowing outside assistance.

So far, the death toll is approaching 50,000, and there are thousands still unaccounted for. Observers are reporting mile after mile of devastation in which all houses and other buildings have simply disappeared.

"The people in Burma live in clusters of small communities in simple bamboo structures," Yohannan explained. "Literally hundreds of these simple structures were just blown away. We are praying here in India and are asking Christians around the world to join us."

Since GFA missionaries are already in the country, and have found favor with the government, they are one of the few groups able to offer immediate help to the people.

"Rangoon is in total darkness, and officials are estimating that there will not be electricity for at least three months," Yohannan said.

Obtaining enough food to feed all those at the Bible college presents another challenge. At present, the banks are closed and fresh food and water are in short supply. Yet these are simply the immediate problems before the aid workers.

"We are facing at least six months of continuous work ministering to the people. This is a tremendous opportunity for us to reach out in love to them, just like we did after the tsunami in 2004," Yohannan said.

Gospel for Asia is an evangelical mission organization based in Carrollton, Texas, involved in sharing the love of Jesus across South Asia.

Übersetzerin und Künstlerin droht zu verhungern:

Eine Frau in Not versucht mit Musik von Johann Sebastian Bach Hilfe zu finden

von Andreas Klamm

Ettlingen / Karlsruhe. 20.

Death Toll Climbs into the Thousands for Cyclone Victims in Burma

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich., May 6 /Christian Newswire/ -- A devastating cyclone has claimed the lives of as many as 22,500 victims in Burma, leaving hundreds of thousands more without homes, food or clean drinking water. Over 41,000 other victims have been declared missing in the storm's aftermath.

Cyclone Nargis hit the Southeast Asian country in the early morning hours of May 3, 2008, where the 120- mile per hour winds tore the roofs off homes, schools and hospitals, and cut electricity in Yangon, Burma's largest city. Reports from the low-lying Irawaddy region are indicating that as many as 95 percent of the homes in neighboring villages have been destroyed. Many other villages are still under water, cut off from all communications and with no relief aid in sight.

According to experts, reconstruction of many of the devastated towns could take years, and at least 40 days to reinstall electrical lines in some areas.

In the wake of the destruction, Burma's government now faces criticism from the international community for failing to properly alert its citizens of the impending storm. First Lady Laura Bush, a long-time critic of Burma's repressive military regime, has also condemned the country's leaders for not accepting U.S. disaster relief aid, claiming that their response to the cyclone is "the most recent example of the junta's failure to meet its people's basic needs." After a meeting with foreign diplomats and U.N. representatives, Burmese officials were said to welcome international assistance; however, the restrictive conditions on what type of relief aid will be permitted into the country from outside agencies is potentially costing the lives of thousands of desperate victims.

Christian Freedom International (CFI), a Michigan- based humanitarian organization that provides aid to persecuted Karen and Karenni Christians in Burma, is among the independent organizations that are preparing to deliver emergency assistance to thousands of cyclone victims into the region. Although none of CFI's existing schools, orphanages, or medical clinics were destroyed in the storm, the organization will send medical teams and other supplies into devastated areas where help is needed most.

CFI has also provided political advocacy in Washington DC for thousands of suffering Christians in Burma, and has been on the forefront in the effort to resettle many refugees in the United States. To provide a donation for cyclone relief efforts, or to learn more about CFI's work in Burma, call 1-800-323-2273 or visit www.christianfreedom.org.

Hilfe für die Menschen in Burma: John Baptist Mission macht Hilfe-Angebot an Bundesregierung

Hilfe für die Menschen in Burma:

John Baptist Mission macht Hilfe-Angebot an Bundesregierung

London (England)/Lome (Togo)/Berlin (Deutschland)./3mnewswire.org/ 9. Mai 2008. (red).
